Radiotherapy Becomes a Reality in Benin as CHIC Begins Patient Treatments

Benin has reached a major milestone in cancer care with the launch of radiotherapy services at the Centre Hospitalier International de Calavi (CHIC). The first patient was treated on 15 April 2026, expanding access to advanced oncology treatment within Benin and reducing the need for patients to seek care abroad.

Radiotherapy Becomes a Reality in Benin
The launch of radiotherapy services at the Centre Hospitalier International de Calavi (CHIC) marks an important milestone for cancer care in Benin. With the first patient treated on 15 April 2026, more patients can now access advanced cancer treatment closer to home.
For Mephida, this progress reflects a vision we have championed for many years: expanding equitable access to modern radiotherapy in Africa through capacity building, knowledge exchange, professional networks and sustainable partnerships. Every new treatment centre brings us closer to a future where geography does not determine access to life-saving cancer care.
